How do I cane a chair that is missing a hole?

I am caning this round chair and it is missing a hole or two in the upper right hand corner. There is a bolt there that holds the chair back to the seat so I can't just drill holes. It looks like the old cane just floated there without being in a hole. What can I do to make this chair look the best? I'm doing two chairs and the other one has holes.
