Many of my cane chairs that I redid a decade ago have sagged, and so I decided to re-cane one of them to see how it went. Much to my annoyance the cane that I am using is continually breaking mid "row" when I am weaving. No doubt I am doing something incorrect, and I would really appreciate any advice?

My honest opinion is that cane quality has gone downhill fast. Global warming, lack of quality control, sanctions, we all need a better alternative than plastic...
How long are you soaking it? You can also add a dot of dish soap and some glycerine to it. Often the finer cane sizes will break more easily. Also, check your "nodes"...the spot on the cane where the leaf had come out. Make sure you are not pulling the cane against the node,
