We’ve just posted a list of some of our members that teach chair caning classes and other types of seat weaving classes at basketry guilds, folk schools, community education, artists studios, and by invitation.
Look around and see if classes will be offered in your area or if you can attend a workshop, convention or folk school in another state. Or if your historical society, attraction event, or art group would like to sponsor a class, get in touch with The SeatWeavers’ Guild, Inc. members that are listed as chair caning and other seat weaving instructors.
Well folks, it’s that time of year again to renew your membership in The SeatWeavers’ Guild! Dues are to be paid by July 1st for the next coming year July 1, 2010-June 30, 2011. Of course we always welcome new members too!

Our very own founding members of The SeatWeaver’s Guild, Jan Noall, Sally Jackson and Lee Long were featured in the Akron Beacon Journal newspaper article on May 14, 2010 about their chair caning classes!
The article highlights the trio’s weekly volunteer chair caning classes they hold at the Lion’s Lodge in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. For many years now these women have dedicated their time, efforts and knowledge to perpetuating the craft of chair seat weaving, teaching anyone in the area that wants to learn how to weave.
Congrats on the write-up on your fine contribution to the chair caning community and for helping to preserve this nearly lost art/craft form!
