Chair seat weaving patterns on doll chairsA special “Chair Seating” exhibition will be presented by members of The SeatWeavers’ Guild, Inc. (TSWG) during the  3rd Annual Gathering of the guild on July 30-August 1, 2010 at Tillers International Museum in Scotts, Michigan.

This rarely presented chair seatweaving exhibit is free and open to the public during the entire weekend.

The exhibition features chairs, footstools  and wicker furniture with handwoven seats, showing a variety of patterns and designs created with both natural hand-gathered and commercially prepared  materials.

The public is invited to view these pieces and learn a bit about the historic relevance of woven chair seats and the specific designs and materials used to create them.

Paper fibre rush seat on child's chairWe need members to demonstrate the craft of chair seat weaving in a variety of patterns using paper fibre rush at our 3rd Annual Gathering and Members Meeting of The SeatWeavers’ Guild on July 30-August 1, 2010 at Tillers International in Scotts, Michigan.

If you’ve ever woven the International, Scandinavian, Italian or Checkerboard patterns and the traditional rush pattern with the four triangles which converge in the center to form an “X” pattern, we sure could use your help demonstrating to the other members just how it’s done.

Contact Event Committee members Mindy King at chairweaver@verizon.net or Bonnie Rashleigh at rfrashle@wcnet.org right away so we can add your name to the member demo list. Thanks!
